At least this car is ugly for a reason unlike stanced cars which are just ugly because people follow fads.

It's interesting because stancing is so reliant on the fads that it's separated from the real JDM style. What the Japs did was purely an expression of the guy who builds the car. Now its turned into, "it has to be this low", "it needs to be cambered this much", or "it needs to have this Rocket Bunny Kit". In essence, this car is probably closer to the original idea of the Japanese than it's Western "Stancing" counterparts.

It is pretty ugly but if it's for going fast and not being a show car so it shouldn't be a problem?

This car is function over form, that in itself is the beauty.

Yeah the japanese cars have always looked crazy because they build whatever they feel like building with no restrictions or care for what others think so they build stuff like this.

Kinja'd!!!

Which stands out whatever your opinion, whereas stanced cars often look very similar to others because they're just trying to fit in. Individuality for them is the brand of wheel they use or like you say, hitting arbitrary standards for camber and ground clearance and such. Fads are dumb...

I think it looks fantastic. Reminds me of the original TVR Griffith, except angrier.

And those stancers have no right to say this is ugly when one of their kin stanced an Esprit and I almost wanted to cry.

It's purposefully low for speed, not for cracking it's oil pan at the home depot parking lot.

Stancers don't get that.

I think it's glorious.

I found myself in the middle of an import meet up a couple weeks ago. Observing the cars, I always found it interesting in groups how people struggle to be so unique, and yet completely the same.

Why do we care what stance idiots think? Surely if we ignore them they will eventually just disappear?

So when it's done in japan, it's done because they want to but when it's done here they're just copycats......

I'm sorry, but you're holding "stance" to a higher standard than JDM car culture for no reason. That bozo car is even more dangerous on the road than any stance car I've seen get driven to a meet. And yeah you get plenty of copycats at shows of all kinds in America. You know what? Go to japan and you'll find plenty that look alike, you just don't see them because you see the show reports and magazine/blog articles on them which just show the standouts. In fact, try going to an actual enthusiast show for euros/imports that doesn't have those stupid raves or foam parties or whatever the hell they do to get 19 year olds in hondas. That's the equivalent of hearing all about how good an American burger is and going to Applebees. There is literally no difference between "fuck it, I do what I want" styles of car customization.

To clarify I'm not a fan of the bozo look either I just respect the extent of the mods. Also the car above has normal camber and isnt touching the ground. My issue with stance is it rarely passes camber drop and wheels so often they can get lost in the pack. Especially at shows where they group car models together which then end up looking only seperated by colour wheels and maybe a carbon hood or spoiler. It defines fad since everyone follows everyone else so closely whereas some of the japanese car cultures are pretty wild and different. And yes im aware our definition of stance exists in japan too and i dislike it just as much when they do it.
